Hello all. Members of our 826michigan Board are not just a collection of pretty faces. Board member, Jeff Parker, having published 437 short stories in the last 2 years (or something close to that) and recently finding his work anthologized in The Best Unrequired Reading series, just sold his novel, Ovenman, to Tin House Books for publication in the summer of 2007. Congratulations and much applause to Jeff who also runs the Summer Literary Series in Russia. Also, 826michigan founder Steven Gillis recently received some good news about his second novel, The Weight of Nothing. The annual national Independent Publishers Awards for General Fiction named The Weight of Nothing (Brook Street Press) one of three finalists for the IPPY Book Of The Year Award during the annual Book Expo America held this year in Washington, DC. ForeWord Magazine’s annual Book of the Year Awards also selected The Weight of Nothing as a finalist in the Literary Fiction category. Way to go! We at 826 can’t wait to post more good news when the many hundreds of students we work with each year begin to earn their own awards and show the world what wonderful writers they are. Write on!
