Revenge of the Bookeaters: By now you’re hopefully all aware of our spectacular fall fundraiser. The amazing Dave Eggers is coming into town, and he’ll be joined by the likes of the Cowboy Junkies, Tally Hall, Davy Rothbart, and Julie Orringer for a books-versus-music extravaganza. This morning we found out that my all-time favorite DJ, Martin Bandyke, will emcee the event. Honestly, I thought this was enough excitement to last me through the week.
But, friends, have you noticed…sometimes when things are good, they keep getting better? Well, this is one of those times. Our board president just informed me that indie-rock god and the former leader of one of my favorite bands, Stephen Malkmus, has agreed to join the bill! That’s right, the lead singer for Pavement will be performing at our Bookeaters!
