Mark It!

Hi friends! In addition to being, more famously, 826-volunteer Mary Roderique’s birthday, August 26 is what has come to be known as our birthday. While it is true that we technically opened our doors on June 1, 2005—more famously known as the birthday of Marilyn Monroe and my mom (shout out to Linda!)—it just makes more sense for us to celebrate it on 8/26. It is, after all, kind of our day.

And so, it is with great excitement, and even some aplomb, that we invite you to our third birthday picnic. Details? You got it:

826michigan Third Birthday Party
Tuesday, 8/26, 5-7pm
West Park band shell (off Seventh near Miller)

Bring your own picnic, and hang out with us for the evening. In the past, people have also brought, to varying levels of success, the following items to our birthday picnic: frisbees, badminton sets, neighbors, puppies, roller skates, friends, baseballs, guitars and/or mandolins, kites, croquet sets, babies, Jarts, peanut-butter sandwiches, lawn chairs, nieces, and bocce ball sets. Okay, maybe we stretched the truth a little on a few of those items, but they all sound good, don’t they?

Join us this year. You can wish Mary Roderique a happy twenty-ninth birthday as you wish us a happy third.
