Putting together a music festival is no easy task. Putting together a music festival where the artists donate their talents and performances for a local nonprofit organization, well that’s just plain tough. Enter the Mittenfest Booking Team. While it has seen many faces over the years, one thing is consistent: it is a group of folks donating their time, effort, and connections to create a robust and well-curated music festival that annually brings in between $15,000-$25,000 a year to support 826michigan’s programming in Ypsilanti. We are endlessly thankful for everyone that has helped book Mittenfest, including this years crew of Linda Jordan, Annie Palmer, and Davey Jones. Linda Jordan, singer and guitarist for Best-Exes, has basically always been involved with Mittenfest in some way. From audience, to advocate, to artist, she now leads the team in the booking and running of the festival, though 2017 will be her final year on the booking team. Annie Palmer, singer and guitarist of Little Traps (and many other projects past, present, and future), joined the booking committee last year and has done a marvelous job in spreading the good word of Mittenfest. Her flyering, posting daily on social media, and sending LOADS of emails from the Mittenfest team has helped remind southeast Michigan just how awesome this festival is. When not booking, she can be found handling so many cute animals at the Ann Arbor Creature Conservancy!
Davey Jones, founding member of the TEN time Mittenfest performing Frontier Ruckus, joined the booking team for the first year in 2017. Along with booking this year, he played guitar in Shuttershop and with Matt Milia. It is possible that Davey has spent more time on the Mittenfest stage than any other performer, though we’ll have to crunch the numbers to verify it. Davey also helps to energize a new cohort of banjo players as a personalized instructor through his company, Michigan Banjo.
