If an event entitled “Five Bowls of Oatmeal” does not entice you in and of itself, you should probably just save yourself some time and stop reading this right now. Skip on down the page to read about the new design contest for Mittenfest V, or Daniel Alarcon’s upcoming visit. No hard feelings!
If you are reading this: Thanks for staying with us! We enjoy that you find the title to our upcoming event as delightful as we do. And, hold tight, because WHAT the event is, I’m sure you will agree, is even better than what it is called.
We have teamed up with the University of Michigan MFA Program in Creative Writing to bring you “Five Bowls of Oatmeal,” a rip-roaring festival of one-act plays written by our very own world-renowned guild of 11-15-year-old playwrights. These five plays have knee-slappers and groaners galore. They have celebrity guest appearances. And, as the name might imply, they each have a bowl of oatmeal. You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! You’ll look at your favorite breakfast food in a brand new way!

“Five Bowls of Oatmeal”
Monday, November 22, 7pm
University of Michigan’s Mendelssohn Theater, 911 N. University
Tickets are just $15 — that’s only $3 a play!
One-act plays? Celebrity cameos? Oatmeal? We know what you’re thinking: It doesn’t get better than that! Think again, friend, because it DOES! Ready? We are going to tell you how in 3, 2…
Proceeds from this one-of-a-kind, your-friends-will-be-so-jealous-they-missed-it event will benefit US! As you know, we provide a huge smorgasboard of fun, creative, free literacy programs to students 6-18 all over Washtenaw County — and you can support ALL of them. “But I’m just one person,” you say, “How can I do that?!” Why, come to “Five Bowls of Oatmeal,” of course! For the highly reasonable price of $15, you’ll help a worthy cause as you enjoy an evening of uniquely memorable entertainment. We think that really is as good as it gets. But don’t delay! Tickets to this deliciously funny event will be gone sooner than a bowl of oatmeal on a nippy autumn morning.
