It may be easy to assume that 826michigan’s community is filled with fans of literary journals. That assumption is totally correct. There are several this writer reads frequently, particularly because literary journals are the keepers of incredible writing by many authors who are mere steps from hitting the NYT bestsellers list. They’re packed with gems, friends. Midwestern Gothic was already on on our list of journals to enjoy, and overtime has catapulted to our favorites category for their incredible investment in our students as well.

The entire book design and layout was managed by our friends at Midwestern Gothic and they sold the book directly through their retail channels. (It’s a cool collection that is still very available HERE: http://midwestgothic.com/2011/01/tell-me-how-it-was-an-anthology-of-imagined-michigan-histories/).

Since then, Midwestern Gothic has continued to be supportive of 826michigan’s work with an even more direct investment of 15% of ALL SALES from each of their titles for an entire month! Yes, friends—Midwestern Gothic donated fifteen entire percent of their entire sales to 826michigan from December 20, 2016 through January 20, 2017. Talk about happy endings and marvelous beginnings! Such generosity is simply invaluable and we deeply appreciate it.

If this is the first time you’ve ever heard of Midwestern Gothic, we encourage you to head over to your favorite independent bookstore and pick up a copy of the latest issue. (You can also pick it up online: http://midwestgothic.com/). It’s a literary gem that takes the art of writing seriously, and believes in making tangible investments in community, too. We know you’ll love it.

Thank you, Midwestern Gothic, for your tremendous support!
