Guess what? We have ANOTHER big week coming up next week. For starters, we’re hosting the second-annual Love Hangover at the Elbow Room in Ypsilanti on Monday night. Doors are at 7pm, show starts at 7:30; your $8 cover (and 25 percent of the bar, thanks Andy Garris!) goes to 826michigan and HuRAI (the Huron River Arts Initiative).
This year’s Love Hangover — a celebration for the heart-warmed and heart-broken alike — features originals and covers, all love-themed, by some of our area’s most talented musicians. In addition to a Fleetwood Mac cover band, we’ve got covers slated for everyone from Neil Diamond to the Magnetic Fields, as well as The Heart Stompers, a troupe of tap dancers. Furthermore, as of about fifteen hours ago, we’ve got quite the closing performance: Cuomo’s for Closers, a band that, apparently, can play Weezer’s Pinkerton album in twenty minutes.
What we’re saying is: Is the Love Hangover worth attending? BOY HOWDY, YES!
After the Love Hangover, come hang out with us again Tuesday night as we recover at Mock Rock. Just what is Mock Rock, you ask?
Well, it’s the University of Michigan Student-Athlete Advisory Council’s eleventh annual fundraiser, set to hit the stage at Hill Auditorium Tuesday night at 7:30pm. Mock Rock, sponsored by adidas, is a high-energy variety show featuring skits from Michigan’s varsity student-athletes.
It features comedian Michael Kosta, formerly a U-M assistant men’s tennis coach, as the emcee, and Green Bay Packers cornerback and former Wolverine football standout Charles Woodson as a celebrity judge.
Tickets for Mock Rock are $15 for premier seating and $10 for general admission and can be purchased online or at the Michigan Athletic Ticket Office, 1000 S. State St. Tickets also will be available the night of the event at Hill Auditorium. Doors will open at 7pm. Part of the proceeds of the event go to 826michigan!
Hope to see you all at one or both of these events!
